There are worse things than turning forty.
However, I can’t seem to evade my worry of my biological clock, and my fear that time is running out. I’ve always wanted to be a mother, and with each passing day, there is a greater chance that might be a dream of mine that will never come true.
And if the clock isn’t loud enough— my controlling and overly judgmental mom is. Her snide comments never go unsaid and her numerous failed attempts at setting me up with any new bachelors in town are enough to spur small town gossip for months at a time. Never mind the fact that she tried to set me up with Old Man Bucky down the street from her— the frail but sweet widow who walks with a cane and has grandchildren my age.
But this isn’t about my mom or her obsessive need to see me settle down and pop out the grand babies she so desperately wants. This is about the emptiness that has lingered inside of me for so long that I worry I will never fill it.
I have a lot to be thankful for in my life. I’m in good health. I run a successful cafe that I inherited from my grandparents and an incredibly handsome best friend who is willing to help make my dream of becoming a mother come true.
It may not be the most conventional way to start a family, but there is no one that I trust more. Besides, we agreed that it would only happen once. Regardless of the outcome, we walk away with our friendship intact. I know this is crossing the line of friendship, but this is my one shot. It’s one night.
What could possibly go wrong?

The Dirty Words Series
Sometimes even writers need help finding the words...
Sex sells, especially when drafted with your captivating new writing partner. And as with all good books, research was one of the most important elements of plotting a sexy storyline.
Chase
When I started writing romance novels, I never imagined my rise up the bestseller’s list would be for destroying readers’ panties. So being called in by my editor to consult for the publishing house golden boy on a novel that can’t quite manage to get it up isn’t something I’m anxious to do when I’ve got my own deadline. But when I saw his face on the back of his latest book jacket, I jumped at the chance to work with reclusive mystery novelist Stone Evans.
Evan
My thriving career was built on carefully crafted, suspenseful thrillers and mystery novels, but I was completely clueless when it came to adding a little spice to my upcoming release. With my deadline barreling toward me, I had no other choice but to accept a helping hand from a pro. Chastity Rose was a stunning romance novelist who burst into my quiet life and made it hard (pun intended) to concentrate on learning from her expertise. Especially once we decided to collaborate on a book requiring specialized, hands-on investigation.
Finding the words is easy with the right person...
Giving in to mutual attraction can unlock the boundaries between two people who would never make sense on paper. Can you ever get that little black box of desire closed again when you’ve thrown away the key?
Kristine
The world I grew up in didn’t have much room for girls with big dreams. Dreams that didn’t include stifling my ambitions as an editor to pursue a career my parents wanted. Despite their best efforts to marry me off to their friends’ horrible offspring, I left New York with the intention of never returning. Being fiercely independent ensured I didn’t make many friends on the way up the corporate ladder either. So, when Sam Langley stood in my path to a promotion, I wouldn’t let a pretty face get in my way.
Sam
Self-sufficient, spirited, smart, and seriously frustrating women didn’t scare me after growing up in a house with four older sisters. But having to edit a spicy thriller with the office ice queen would test my resolve to resist her fiery wit and sharp tongue. She thought her bristly exterior was a turn-off, but it only made it that much harder to keep her off my mind and out of my bed. Kristine Willard may have thought she could keep me away with her cutting remarks and terrible nicknames. She never expected my ability to read her in a way that showed her true character, and I wanted to explore her every page.
Words have the power to bind you or break you...
Sometimes you meet someone who has the potential to change your life entirely, but the timing isn’t right.
Kelly
The first time I met Nathan Harrison I drunkenly exclaimed I was going to climb him like a mountain. But when I found out he lived halfway across the country I didn’t think I’d ever see him again. Until he found me crying at my brother’s wedding and showed me what it was like to be with a man who thrived on control. After an eye-opening weekend, I knew I didn’t want anyone else, but our lives were in different places. Fate had other plans when circumstances brought us back together for longer than a few steamy hours.
Nathan
Kelly Stineman was a temptation I found hard to deny. I tried to ignore my attraction, but when the obstacles keeping us apart fell away for a few stolen weeks at her brother’s house in rural Connecticut, I knew resisting her was futile. Introducing her to my world of forbidden desires, we both found solace and strength in one another. She was the one woman I’d ever felt truly comfortable submitting control to. Letting go of our fears brought new possibilities for a future that bound us together in a way neither of us ever imagined. When ghosts from our pasts threatened to drive us apart, would we be able to resist the pull?

Meet Him at the Altar is written a bit like a romantic, coming of age mystery. Krista meets 4 men the first day of Freshman orientation at university, and throughout the story, she has romantic encounters with each one. You’re left guessing until the end of the book which one cheats on her, which one leaves her at the altar, and which one ultimately ends up marrying her.
